I had the absolute privilege of being hosted live on NBS Sport during the Sport This Morning show. It was an incredible platform to share a vision that goes far beyond the pitch, the court, or the ring. Sports is no longer just a game or a form of weekend leisure. Today, sports is a massive engine for grassroots economic transformation, health improvement, and social unity.

When we look at a football match or a boxing tournament, we shouldn't just see athletes competing; we should see a bustling marketplace. Sports is a dominant economic driver that creates a massive chain of employment. A vibrant sports sector means consistent jobs and income for:
The Direct Talent: Players, athletes, and specialized coaches.
Support Services: Local transport operators, boda-bodas, and regional hotels/hospitality venues hosting teams.
The Media Ecosystem: Content creators, journalists, and production crews.
The Business Community: Small vendors, food sellers, and corporate sponsors.
By investing in local sports infrastructure, we are actively creating sustainable job networks for our people.
2. A Shield for Health and Wellness
A healthy nation is a wealthy nation. Communities that embrace active sports are communities that naturally fight off the rising burden of non-communicable lifestyle diseases. Regular sporting activities and fitness regimes are critical in:

Preventing and managing type-2 diabetes.

Even more critically, sports is saving our youth. Idle hands are the devil's playground. By engaging young people in intensive athletic training, we are actively keeping them away from idleness, crime, substance abuse, and alcoholism. Sports instills rigorous discipline, teamwork, and accountability that shapes the character of the next generation.
4. Empowering Women and Building Safe Spaces
True development must be inclusive. At the UNCLE-TUSIIME DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION, we are intentionally breaking barriers by aggressively building dedicated Female Football and Boxing teams. We believe in empowering women through athletics, giving them a fierce platform to showcase their strengths, build leadership skills, and earn a dignified livelihood.
5. Retaining Our Wealth: Stop Selling Family Land
My strongest message on air was a rallying call to our families and young people: We must stop selling invaluable family land to fund risky, uncertain journeys abroad.
Land is a permanent wealth asset. Instead of selling your heritage to seek green pastures elsewhere, we must learn to invest and develop what we already have right here at home. Through strategic partnerships with RUMPS Credit Financial Services and the RUMPS International Fresh Food Market, we are providing the financial training, credit systems, and market access needed to turn local agricultural and business ideas into thriving enterprises.
